by skylover on Feb.21, 2009, under Food, Year 2009
First of all as the title indicated Food Glorious Food. All of you should know I’m going to introduce Food in this entry. It quite a few weeks entry but still I am required to write it on request of my gf. She has been insisting that I post it so I shall do it today.
BBQ Chicken Down Town East – #02-121/122
I think all of you should go there have a try. It may look as if the chicken is normal with chill but I would like to warn those who don’t really take chill. It is very hot and its not those normal type of hot. You can’t find this kind of hot chill sold outside. It can be compared to those sold at Singapore Flying Club House. Those of you remember that Makan Sutra has shown that place before. They had 30 level of hot chicken for you to try. If you remember that episode, many people went there to try ended up cannot even tahan level 5? Yes its that episode. For the chicken wing at BBQ Chicken, it’s about level 2 or 3 in my opinion, though I have yet to go to Singapore Flying Club there to try but one of these days. I’m sure to go there to give it a try.
The place is quite unique and its pinky! Oh my gf loves it very much cause its simply her favored.
Enough of my introduction of the shop. I shall let the picture do the talking.

Chicken Rice Shop – Vivocity #B2-37
The Last Place and also the last section of this post. Chicken Rice Shop! It is quite a nice place for studentS! They don’t offer student price the last time I pass by but now it does. Food wise, it is not bad as it has a certain quality. It cost about $4.50 to about $6 for each set depending on the set you choose. It is quite affordable if you can afford to eat Macdonald. It is worth the price to try out their food, seriously.
BBQ Chicken Noodle Dry
Shreded Chicken Noodle
Almost forgot to add on, their service charge is only 5% instead of the usual 10% thus making it the most cheapest service charge restaurant I have ever gone to.
Before I end this post, Take a look at my newly painted room. It is in blue color but yet to be makeover yet as my block is still under heavy upgrading!! =_=!!
Valkyrie
by skylover on Feb.17, 2009, under Movie Review, Year 2009
Recently I watched this show with my gf and before I start writing out about it. I shall say I give it 4.5 star out of 5.
It was a really nice movie. Though there are people who mentioned that there are still a few more heroic people more worthy to be mentioned than those shown in the movie. Yes I agree to some extend that there are still some more heroic people to be mentioned but let’s not forget that, It’s not possible for the movie to show everything we would like to see. I don’t mind the movie director to film another one to show the other heroic people. During Hilter days, there are just too many people trying to upraise and overthrow him but many are unsuccessful not forgetting that he also has a lot of loyal subject behind him even though he has done many cruel act against many people expecially the Jews which he killed about 6 million of them.
One of the famous killing method employed by them was the gas chamber which was unethical and immoral. It is a slow killing process and people who withness it would feel greatly discomfort. The person would usually die very slowly rather than nowadays where you got hanged and die within minutes.
Ooopss.. I side track a bit too much. Getting back to main story of it. The film was set in Nazi Germany during World War II. The film depicts 20 July, 1944 plot by German Army Officers to assassinate Adolf Hitler and to use the Operation Valkyrie national emergency plan to take control of the country. The main character Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg (Tom Cruise) was one of the key plotters.
Summary of the plot
During WWII, Wehrmacht Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg is severely wounded in Tunisia and is evacuated home to Nazi Germany. Meanwhile, Major General Henning von Tresckow attempts to assassinate Adolf Hitler by smuggling a bomb abroad the FÜhrer’s private airplane. However, the bomb fails to detonate and assumption was made that it is possible that temperature at such high altitude, pressure etc might cause it not to detonate. Tresckow learning about it, immediately went to retrieves it to conceal his intentions. After learning that Gestapo has arrested Major Hans Oster, he orders General Olbricht to find a replacement.
After recruiting von Stauffenberg into German Resistance, Olbricht had Stauffenberg brought forward to meet the secret committee. The members include General Ludwig Beck, Dr. Carl Goerdeler and Erwin von Witzleben. Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg was stunned to learnt that no plans exist for after Hilter’s assassination.
Back home with his children and wife, rain of bomb raid in Berlin. It was after the bomb raid on Berlin that he lights upon using the plan Operation Valkyrie, which involves the deployment of the Reserve Army to maintain order in the event of a national emergency. In order for Operation Valkyrie to be an advantage to him, he has to carefully redraft the plan so that they can dismantle the Nazi regime after assassinating Hitler. The plan also requires General Fromm, Head of the Reserve Army, can initiate Valkyrie. They offer him a position as head of the Wehrmacht in a Post-Nazi Germany and recruit him into the fold. General Fromm was not convinced that he could do it even though in his heart he detest Hitler way of action. They left his office after failing to convince him to join in.
Their next plan of action was with the rewritten plan needing to be signed off by Hitler, von Stauffenberg visits the Führer at his Berghof estate in Bavaria. In the presence of his inner circle, Hitler praises von Stauffenberg’s heroism in North Africa and signs off on the plan without fully examining the modifications.
The plan will not proceed unless von Stauffenberg is able to assassinate both Hitler and SS head Himmler at the bunk Walk’s Lair. At the final briefing, Colonel Mertz von Quirnheim instructs the committee memebers in how to use pencil detonators. These plastic detonators act as a decoil so that even if an investigation was to be carried out, it would not be discovered as done by internal officers. Plastic detonators are made by British and thus finger would staright away be pointed at them first. von Stauffenberg also reaches out to General Fellgiebel, who controls all communications at Walf’s Lair, to cutt off all communications after the bomb blast.
On 15 July, 1944, von Stauffenberg attends a strategy meeting at Walk’s Lair with the bomb in his briefcase, but with Himmler not present at the meeting, von Stauffenberg does not get the go=ahead from the committee leaders until the meeting is over. Meanwhile, the Reserve Army is mobilized by Olbricht, unbeknownst to Fromm, to standby. With no action taken, von Stauffenberg safely extracts himself and the bomb from the bunker, and the Reserve Army is ordered to stand down believing that the mobilization was training.
Enraged, von Stauffenberg goes tot the committee to preotest the indecisiveness and blames the bungling of Goerdeler, who has been selected to be chancellor after the coup. When Goerdeler demands that von Stauffenberg be relieved, Beck informs him that the SS is searching for him and suggest him to leave the country immediately. When all is over then he will come back as chancellor.
On 20 July, 1944, von Stauffenberg and his adjutant Lieutenant Haeften return to the Walf’s Lair. von Stauffenberg discover that the conference is being held in an open-window summer barrack, whereas his initially plan was to detonate the bomb within the walls of the unker for maximum damage. While his adjuntant waits withe a getaway car, von Stauffenberg leaves the briefcase at the meeting. The bomb explodes soon after von Stauffenberg leaves and he is certain that Hitler is dead and flees the Walf’s Lair. Before shutting down all communications, Fellgiebel calls Mertz about the explosion but didn’t convey whether or not the Führer is dead.
von Stauffenberg flies back to Berlin, Olbricht refuses to mobilize the Reserve Army until he knows without a doubt that Hitler is dead. Behind Olbricht’s back, Mertz forges his signature and issues the orders anyway. With Operation Valkyrie underway, von Stauffenberg and his fellow plotters order the arrest of Nazi party leaders and SS officers and being to take control of Berlin’s goverment quarter which will allow them to command the entire Reich.
Soon after Operation Valkyrie was activated, news of Hitler survived the blast reach Berlin but von Stauffenberg dismisses them as SS propaganda. Meanwhile, Fromm learns from Field Marshal Keitel that Hitler is still alive. The General refuses to join the plotters resulting in his arrest.
Hitler managed to reach the Reserve Army by telephone and orders them to capture all the plotters alive. After a telephone conversation, all SS officers are released and the plotters in turn are besieged inside the Benderblock. The headquarters staff flees but the ringleaders are arrested soon after. Most of them are eventually tried and executed while some commit suicide. Stauffenberg is executed by a firing squad.
Hitler committed suicide with his wife nine months later after they lost Berlin.
